Using Props

Props are an essential part of the theatre; they bring a world to life and offer it added meaning. However, they can also be used to prompt imaginations, memories, thoughts and feelings. They can provoke reactions that spark creative activities such as writing, building or acting.

At Dead Earnest we excel in making and using props to bring the best out of people. Be it placing a hand-made alien cocoon in a school or taking some fake moustaches and a camera on to a renovated farm in South Yorkshire, Dead Earnest can help both young people and adults think creatively, build relationships and have memorable experiences.

Generally we would place a prop within a certain environment with the aim of basing a number of different activities around it, all geared towards a specific outcome – for example, improving creative writing in children or helping a group of adults engage with a location’s past.

Many people are attracted to this option because of the novelty, difference and excitement the projects can offer to clients. We also have a specialist prop builder, who can create things you thought were beyond your wildest imaginations, so we can always get that authentic feeling into our projects.
