Education, Universities and Children
Educational environments are all about making positive personal advances. At Dead Earnest we find this sector enthrallingly creative across all levels; be it the pupils and students, the teachers and tutors or the receptionists and administrators.
In all areas of education we feel it is important to allow creativity to flourish in order to get the best out of everyone involved. From using props to prompt creative writing in primary schools to helping lecturers from the Open University keep up with their students from a distance; our varied approaches can help improve situations in all areas of education.
At primary school level we love the creativity of the children. They are full of enthusiasm and ideas, often way beyond anything us poor adults can imagine. All they need is some encouragement, something to spark their ideas. This is where we can help. We revel in the chance to come up with original and exciting ideas that get the children’s creativity flowing. We never just come in, perform and leave. Our performances are backed by our project team who will follow the event up with workshops and imaginative ideas to keep the kids’ enthusiasm bubbling.
We can work with pupils to teach them drama techniques but we can work with the teachers too. We can pass on our communication expertise in insets, showing the teachers how to create fully interactive classes, how to feel comfortable in taking risks in order to help pupils’ learning in an innovative way.
Our work doesn’t have to be inside of school. We regularly put on workshops, trails and projects for Councils, local communities and other organisations. These can be based around certain themes the organisation is trying to convey to children and their parents, or we can devise our own schemes to make sure the children learn and, most importantly, enjoy themselves.
We can work with staff at schools, colleges and universities to make the most of the processes they have to go through, from peer assessment to return to work interviews. We can even help universities to train their ambassadors before fresher’s week, to make sure the new students have the smoothest possible transition.
We have worked with Southey Green Primary School, we have worked with Chaucer and City Secondary Schools, we have worked with Sheffield Hallam University, the University of Sheffield and the Open University. We have run Creative Sparks across Sheffield for three years. We have worked with many, many more.
